The world of internet is very big that it goes beyond our imagination. The internet has more than 1 billion registered domains and it’s just surface web which is only 5% of the internet. The rest 95% is made up of dark web and deep web. While we always want to use the internet safely, it’s near impossible to keep your phone safe from malicious links or harmful viruses in its working period. You will face the situation of irritating popup redirection and automatic download of apps at least once. So today I’ll be taking you through my top 5 recommendations to keep your phone safe from these things. Although these problems are mostly faced by android used but if you use an iPhone, you can also read this to add an extra layer of security.

1:  Never download apps outside Play/App store:

Yes! You saw it right. Always try to avoid downloading apps outside of play store as it is not a reliable source. Google & Apple keeps security their top priority so they always try to remove apps with unwanted permissions and ad frauds. For example: If a camera app wants phone permission, it’s very uncertain because camera app has nothing to do with your contacts. So make sure you download apps from reliable sources only.

2:  Always check permissions of apps manually:

Until android 5.0 lollipop, we haven’t had the option to give permissions manually but these days phones with latest OSs ask for permissions when you download an app so use your logic to give permission only for the purpose of the app and try to deny useless permissions. If the app works, that’s fine otherwise you should remove the apps.

3:  Avoid Chinese software:

Many well knows Chinese software companies are accused of collecting data from phone without letting users know like UC Browser, Cheetah Mobile apps, TikTok, ShareIt, vigo etc. Also there are apps like Facebook which are also accuse of collecting private data and using heavy power in the background.

4: Keep your browser’s popup blocked:

Yes! You can turnoff popup in your browser, which will help you to block malicious redirection. Although blocking popup of ads never blocks all the popup but it blocks majority of them and in case you went to a popup link or your phone keeps vibrating and screen pops with warnings, don’t worry and close the tab immediately.

5:  Downloading apps outside stores:

If you think that you need to download an app outside store then check the permissions strictly for example a music downloader app need file access to work, if it asks for location and camera or call you should deny them without second thought.  Some apps even ask for administrative access. You should only give this access to Google’s own find my device and if another app asks, simply uninstall it.

So here are my tips to keep your phone safe and avoid unwanted breaching of your data. Be safe and keep everyone safe. Good Day!
